My very early years of drawing...

There were so many rules to drawing a human body, let alone a portrait, ratios and mathematics were the basis of drawing such concepts. I began to take inspiration from around me than from my pinterest boards. I began to draw subjects as they are presented, and how I saw them not following a ratio for perfect proportions.

So I thought: “why is there a perfect ratio to follow when we are all naturally born with diverse attributes?”. To hell with perfecting these human characteristics. Here I was trying to draw things perfectly, but there was no such thing as a perfect hand or hair.

Strictly drawing with pen,

Although I’ve retired my hand drawings, hair renders became part of my everyday life. I find myself sketching this human feature constantly when I need to unwind or when under a lot of stress.

Although my perfectionist tendencies are still present, they are not as loud as before. I choose to only draw with a pen. I’m drawing subjects as accurately as I see it. Nothing’s ever perfect and that’s what being human is.
